Lampwork Beads Are Miniature Works of Art
Craftsmen have been working skillfully in the medium of glass for thousands of
years. The Ancient Egyptians were so adept at it that it is difficult for even
experts to tell whether some of their glass jewelry pieces are, indeed, glass or
are precious gemstones. When you come to think about it, it almost seems like a
magic trick that plain sand from a beach can be turned into a clear, colorful
liquid that hardens into the glass beads and works of art available to us. Today's
lampworkers are especially talented, working with an oxygen torch to shape and mold
intricate, one-of-a-kind beads like the ones featured in this pair of earrings.

Three Ways To Choose Earrings For Daily Wear
1) Earrings that contrast or tone with your clothing
For formal attire, such as a black gown, a pair of black onyx earrings
or black jasper earrings
completes your dark and stylish ensemble, keeping both clothing and accessories in
the same thing. But, opposites work wonders as well. Consider the contrast of white
freshwater pearls, or clear Swarovski crystals with black. Contrast creates more
dimension in your ensemble. You can apply this technique with everyday wear as
well. Blue earrings and a blue blouse give you a glorious sky-like effect, or try
an opposite; how about a splash of fire-red earrings against a blue blouse. Quite
a different effect! Let your mood rule the day when you are feeling, bold, quiet,
thoughtful or extravagant.
2) Earrings that contrast or tone with your eyes
Because earrings appear just below the eyes, you can create different effects
between your eye color and your choice of earrings.
Blue eyes - increase the breadth of blue in your appearance by accessorizing
with blue gemstone earrings such as turquoise earrings. Or, enhance the blue in
your eyes by choosing an opposite color. Yellow is the opposite of blue, so try
citrine earrings
or sunstone earrings and watch the blue in your eyes brighten.
Brown eyes - complement the dark tones in your eyes with smoky quartz or an even
darker stone such as onyx. Tigereye or lampwork beads can be found that are striped
with the exact highlights in your eyes. Or add a new twinkle in your eyes by
choosing blue stones such as aquamarine and turquoise for your earrings.
Green eyes - The green and golden striation in the pair of lampwork earrings
shown here would be the perfect match for green eyes. Jade or green jasper earrings
would be equally lovely choices, depending upon the exact shades of green in your eyes.
Or, consider the tremendous contrast you can create between your green eyes and
an orange toned Swarovski Crystal, orange-toned Lampwork beads or one of the more
cinnamon-hued types of citrine or topaz.
3) Earrings that tone with your hair
Here are some suggestions for earring that will pick up the natural highlights in
your hair:
- Brown Hair: tigereye, smoky quartz, topaz, brown lampwork beads, picture jasper
- Red Hair: garnet, ruby, rhodochrosite, picture jasper, red lampwork beads
- Blonde Hair: sunstone, citrine, topaz, yellow Swarovski crystals
- Black Hair: onyx, black jasper, black Swarovksi crystals, smoky quartz
- Grey/White Hair: freshwater pearls, sterling silver beads, clear quartz, clear
Swarovski crystals
It's no wonder earring lovers are always looking for just one more pair of
perfect earrings. Your opportunities to accessorize are almost endless!
